【讲座摘要】

The study aims at providing an overview of current research conducted on the field of retranslations. I will start my presentation by discussing the different definitions of the concept, and the relevance of retranslations within the discipline of Translation Studies. I will also focus on the different reasons that motivate publishing houses to retranslate a literary text. I will also discuss the most influential and controversial theory within this field of study, i.e., the ‘Retranslation Hypothesis’ (Berman 1990; Bensimon 1990; Chesterman 2000). Finally, we will explore the most innovating methodologies and hypotheses that have been applied to research on the topic in the past few years, such as the analysis of retranslations based on process-oriented approaches.
